A Study in Celebration & Ease

A low rumble of a Yamaha V-star barrelling down the road. Faint to the ear. Heard, even if just barely.

Meet Lillith.

Meet Lillith.

She's coming into town. Stern and delicate all at the same time. A juxtaposition of passion and joy. This lady shines with her own light rays, and they are potent.

There are people who capture your attention and, at a glance, Denise is one of those people.

Denise, executive chef at The Modern Cafe in The Modern Museum of Art of Fort Worth and Chopped winner 2020 (congrats!)

is a bubble of energy and life. Her cuisine inspires your tastebuds to travel and explore. Long after thoughtful menus are built, plates served, checks are paid, kitchen staff winds down and rests, the chef, always thinking, finds that she too needs to wind down.

She shares the energetic discovery of when she fully embraced her own yoga practice that spans from Hatha to yin yoga styles. Denise shares: “There is so much good to be had from both!” as we inquire into any preference between one type or the other. (She also loves hot yoga!)

But her practice wasn’t easy from the start.

It was hard for me to stay for the end of yoga classes. I would leave. I loved the celebratory part of yoga, like a dance, but did not see value in lying down to what seemed like a nap afterward, so I would respectfully leave.

In truth, that's how energetic I am. It's hard to be still. It wasn't until I stayed through the end and explored the Savasana pose that I was able to digest what had just happened energetically during class.

I think something like that happens when you meditate or do meditative tasks, like chopping or delicate pastry work. Savasana is like a mental mute button, but less noisy. You are there, present at that moment, just you and what you are focusing on.

We are all lumps of coal with a diamond inside, she says. And we agree.

To show our support, we will totally plug her gems. Her twin daughters, Roxana and Ariana, are each shining stars in their own right. Roxana uses literal diamond dust in her sought after nail art. Her +33K following speaks for itself (like THAT good). Get your nail eye candy @hurrrikanye

Her uniquely talented sister, Ariana, launched her Etsy shop with really cool dark statement piece jewelry—Check her out!😁❤️

Denise is always up to something! Follow her on YouTube for new episodes of her channel: Spork U.
