About Kristia

Hola, I’m Kristia, Chief Blogging Officer & Content Juggler @Takes a Break. Like many folks, I was forced into “Break” mode by COVID. This sparked an exploration.

With a little help from my friends and the Break Takers Community, we are defining what this concept can look and feel like for each of us. Let's Break more and build genuine connections along the way!

Based in Washington, D.C. and working fully remotely for the past 6 years as a Marketing Executive, Kristia Benthien is a Puerto Rican artist, passionate marketer, and proud nerd living her best new-normal life with husband Pedro, and fur elder Bonnie Lynn.

About Us

Though it may seem like it at times, we haven’t always known each other! Kristia is from Puerto Rico, and Shelby is originally from Florida, but we both somehow found ourselves living in D.C. and became fast friends. A shared passion for seeking betterment, cookies, and joy inspired us to get together and build this idea. Picking up from day-to-day inspiration and collaborators, Takes a Break supports and elevates through the power of connection, story, and genuine intention.

With a little help from a growing network of friends (like you!) and amazing people, we’ve created this space curated for the sole exploration of what Taking a Break can be for different people.
